Russkie Musikanti Balalaika Ensemble

This ensemble is comprised of ten members of the Washington Balalaika Society, the largest Russian folk orchestra in the United States. The ensemble wears traditional Russian costumes and performs on authentic Russian folk instruments bringing the music of Russia and Eastern Europe to the broader community. The ensemble will perform different styles of Russian and Eastern European Music, including some music that was especially composed for the folk instruments used.

Creative Cauldron will explore folk and fairy tales from the ancient Slavic culture. Grand tales of heroes and heroines, animals and mystical beings all play a part in these "skazki" or folktales that have been passed from generation to generation. The tales will come to life with the help of large scale puppets, narration and choreographed movement, in yet another fun, interactive story theater presentation that will be a treat for the entire family.
